Energy Storage & Battery Back-Up in San Diego
Home Energy Systems Inc. Installs these Energy Storage Systems
Energy storage (also known as battery back-up) gives you the ability to store energy produced by your solar systems to use at a later time. Solar energy storage has been around for decades. However, it has only been recently that homeowners have begun to see a real necessity for it.
The idea of energy storage is that one is able to store the energy generated by their solar system in batteries that are then connected to your home to supply energy at night or when your solar system is not producing. Adding a battery backup system to your existing or newly installed PV solar panel systems helps protect your home against power outages by providing energy to your home to produced by your solar system. Energy storage is designed to keep your lights on and your refrigerator running when the grid goes down.
Tesla Powerwall Certified Installer
Home Energy Systems is now a Tesla Powerwall Certified Installer, which means we now offer a customized solar-plus-battery solution that allows you to access solar power and lower your reliance on fossil fuels, for more information click here.
How It Works
Here is a basic idea of how energy storage works:
The energy that is generated from your solar system and not being immediately consumed by you is sent to the batteries in your home. Keep in mind this happens when your system is producing more energy than you are consuming, like in the middle of the day when most people are working or out of the house.
Therefore instead of sending the energy back to the grid, the utility company-, the energy remains within your home, stored in DC batteries. The DC batteries are then converted into AC energy to power your home. When the sun is no longer out and your solar system is not producing energy, your home will be powered first through the energy in your batteries then through the grid.
- Step 1: Energy is generated through your solar systems
- Step 2: Energy is stored in your DC battery
- Step 3: Energy is converted into AC energy to power your home
- Step 4: When there is no more energy your home is powered by your electricity provider

2017 Self-Generated Incentive Program (SGIP)
SGIP is a program designed to incentivize the investment in solar and renewable energy resources. Simply put, SGIP reduces the cost of adding an energy storage system like Tesla Powerwall to your existing solar PV system in half. The SGIP is officially open for applications and Home Energy Systems will take care of the application process, installation, and monitoring for you. The number of rebates available is limited so please contact us today to find out more at 619-350-0032!
Average rebate = $4,000
